Abstract
Some of the somewhat controversial and undefined areas of the Professional Construction Management approach are reviewed. The discussion and suggested guidelines include the assignment of liabilities and risk, labor relations considerations, compensation and fee structures, forms of contract, organizational concepts and licensing considerations. A discussion of the responsibilities and qualifications of each of the team members (designer, owner, and construction manager) is included. To be successful, the three-party team must have the proper individual qualifications and each team member must respect and appreciate the skills and professionalism of the other.
