Blood haemoglobin: the relationship between oxygen capacity and iron content of blood in men and women

Abstract
The ratio between O2 capacity and Fe content is the same in the blood of [male][male] and [female][female]. The specific O2 capacity was 393 ml. O2/g. Fe (stoichiometric value = 401 ml.). Values for the artificial standard agree closely with those previously published. Mean values from 30 bloods were 15.7 g. Hb/100 ml. of blood from O2 capacity and 16.1 g. from Fe.
