Abstract
The development of the antheridia, archegonia, and more particularly the sporophyte of an unnamed species of Marchantia growing in the Peruvian Andes is discussed. The archegonium development is typical of M. polymorpha. The antheridia are also typical except for noticeably long and massive stalks and the presence of paraphyses. And likewise the sporophyte has a development similar to that of M. polymorpha. There is a sterile cap of cells in the apical region. The stalk elongates when the spores are mature.
