VARIOUS HEMOGLOBINS AND THEIR RENAL THRESHOLDS IN THE DOG

Abstract
In a series of normal dogs the intravenous injection of various hemoglobins was followed by hemoglobi-nuria at points characteristic of the hemoglobins used. The renal threshold value for dog blood hemoglobin is about 215 mgm. per kgm., while that for sheep and goose blood hemoglobin is approximately half that amount. The renal threshold value for dog muscle hemoglobin is very low, being but 6% of the threshold value for dog blood hemoglobin. Threshold values were unaltered by prolonged anemia.
