Abstract
The authors investigated the reaction between thermal He(23S) atoms and CF3Cl molecules. Previous studies gave results which could not be explained by the generally accepted reaction model of direct Penning ionisation. Based on the authors electron-ion coincidence spectra they discuss possible reaction mechanisms and how they show up in the experimental data. The position-sensitive electron detector used in this study is described in detail. Keywords
