Abstract
1. A fourth gene for the tassel seed type of plant has been discovered in maize and designated ts4. 2. Tassel seed-4 behaves as a simple Mendelian recessive to the normal maize plant. 3. Linkage tests indicate that T s4ts4 is probably inherited independently of the Pr pr, Y y, B b and V2v2 factor pairs. 4. A slight indication of linkage exists beteween Ts4ts4 and the A a factor pair for Anthocyanin pigment but the evidence is not conclusive. The data fit an hypothesis of 44.8 per cent crossing-over.
