Abstract
An in vitro biological assay system was described to quantify the listericidal activity [against Listeria monocytogenes] of human macrophages grown from peripheral blood monocytes. Within 15 min after in vitro infection, the activated macrophages showed a faster and higher degree in killing capacity as compared to the nonactivated ones; the killing process started early and was of short duration.
