The Red Cell Linked Antigen Test for Incomplete Antibodies to Soluble Proteins

Abstract
It has been confirmed that photo-oxidation can remove the agglutinating power from rabbit anti-red cell antibodies and at the same time conjugate these to an admixed protein antigen. In this manner rabbit anti-human red cell antibody has been conjugated to 3 bovine antigens: /3-lactoglobulin, casein and plasma albumin. Red cells treated with these conjugates have been used to examine human infant sera for agglutinating and non-agglutinating antibodies. Incomplete antibodies could be demonstrated in many sera.
