The isolation of a-oestradiol and oestrone from horse testes

Abstract

Using 28 kg. of horse testis [alpha]-oestradiol was isolated (0.21 mg./kg.) as its di-[alpha]-naphthoate and estrone (0.36 mg./kg.) as its 35-dinitrobenzoate. The cones, of estrone and of [alpha]-estradiol in horse testes are much higher than the values reported for any other tissue to date.
