Action Currents in the Auditory Tracts of the Midbrain of the Cat

Abstract

Sounds applied to the cat''s ear cause electrical disturbances in the acoustic nerve and the auditory tracts of the midbrain which, when amplified, reproduce the original sounds in ear phones. The effect is predominantly due to true action currents. The technique permits selective study of pathways in the central nervous system.
