Abstract
To test possible association of human T cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV‐1) with multiple sclerosis (MS), polymerase chain reaction was applied to detect HTLV‐1 DNA integrated into peripheral blood mononuclear cell DNA. Nine Japanese MS patients all gave a negative result, indicating no HTLV‐1 infection in these MS patients. Keywords
