Abstract
Ten cases of benign mixed tumor of the parotid gland are presented. In addition, one patient with a mixed tumor arising in a lesser salivary gland and one case of leiomyoma of the retropharyngeal space were reported. Five cases of mixed tumor arose in the stylomandibular lobe of the parotid gland and entered the lateral pharyngeal space through the stylomandibular tunnel. In five other cases, the tumor apparently arose in the inferior extension of the retromandibular portion of the parotid gland and entered the lateral pharyngeal space below the stylomandibular ligament and grew upward and medially. "Inferior" as used in this discussion refers to the stylomandibular ligament. Keywords
