Results of Total and Partial Adrenalectomy and Adrenal Transplantation in the Albino Rat

Abstract
The rat is no exception to the rule that mammals cannot survive adrenalectomy. A very small piece of cortex remaining in situ can keep the animal alive indefinitely. Transplants of cortical material into an ovary have been successful, subsequent removal of this ovary brought on the usual train of insufficiency symptoms and death.
