CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PHYSIOLOGY OF THE PANCREAS

Abstract
It was found that an auto-pancreatic transplant in the dog was stimulated to secrete pancreatic juice when the animal was fed, which proves that a humoral mechanism is concerned in external pancreatic secretion. Atropine (1.5 mgm.) decreased, but did not abolish, the response of the transplant to a meal. Different foods caused the secretion to vary decidedly in quantity but not significantly in quality.
