Dielectronic recombination measurements ofP4+,S5+, andCl6+

Abstract
Dielectronic recombination via 3s-3p excitation has been measured for the Na-like ions P4+, S5+, and Cl6+. We observed the amount of electron capture attending the passage of MeV/amu ion beams through a collinear, magnetically confined space-charge-limited electron beam as a function of relative energy. The measured rates fall between limits calculated from limiting-case theoretically predicted cross sections.
