Abstract
The systematic calculation of the differential collision cross section developed in a previous paper is used here to compute the half‐intensity half‐width of the rotational lines of HCl perturbed by helium, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon. The comparison of these results with the available experimental data allows one to discuss the influence of the various terms of the potential and of the presence of cross term contributions in the differential cross section. The consistency of the theoretical results with respect to the experiment is fairly good, expect for He as perturbing gas, when the cutoff procedure, proposed by Anderson for the differential cross section, is introduced in the calculations.
