Insecticide Resistance of A. Quadrimaculatus in Bolivar County, Miss.

Abstract
Field studies in 1955 showed that Anopheles quadrimaculatus is highly resistant to deposits of dieldrin, BHC, and chlordane but remains susceptible to DDT residues. Dieldrin deposits at dosages of 25, 100, and 200 mg/ft.2 failed to produce more than 8% mortality of adult females at 30 minutes exposure. The high level of resistance to dieldrin, chlordane, and BHC in this sp. is considered to be a result of the use of these toxicants for the control of agricultural pests.
