Abstract
The lattice vibrations of YV have been analyzed group-theoretically, and symmetry coordinates for the vibrations have been constructed. The first-order Raman spectrum is reported in detail and preliminary results of infrared (IR) measurements are given. Six of the seven allowed IR-active modes and nine of the twelve allowed Raman-active modes have been observed. Symmetry assignments are given for all observed modes.
