Measurement of the Density of Saturated Cesium Vapor by an Optical Method

Abstract
The vapor pressure of cesium metal has been measured as a function of temperature using a scanning Fabry—Perot interferometer. The apparatus was constructed to measure cesium‐vapor densities in optical pumping experiments. In clean, evacuated glass bulbs the vapor pressure of pure cesium metal is in close agreement with the results of Langmuir and Taylor. The vapor pressure is lowered considerably if rubidium metal is mixed with the cesium.
