The Temporary Thrombotic State

Abstract

NOT infrequently the physician is confronted with a patient in whom massive recurrent pulmonary infarction occurs without an evident source for emboli or a recognized cause for local thrombosis. The management of this syndrome and its differentiation from other conditions, particularly pneumonia, is made difficult by the lack of a reliable clinical or laboratory test for the incipient or actively thrombotic state.
