Chick Tissue-Storage Bioassay of Alpha-Tocopherol: Chemical Analytical Techniques, and Relative Biopotencies of Natural and Synthetic Alpha-Tocopherol

Abstract
A chick bioassay method is described for comparing the potencies of d and dl, α-tocopherol with their respective acetate esters. It was found that d,α-tocopheryl acetate was 1.34 times more potent than dl,α-tocopheryl acetate as measured by liver tocopherol content, and d or dl,α-tocopherol were utilized equally as well as their respective acetate esters.
