Abstract
The various means of measuring tropical climate to determine its influence upon external characters and physiological functions of mammals are discussed. Three periods are distinguished with regard to effect of tropical climate upon the individual: immediate response; the adjustment and stimulation period; and the attainment of equilibrium. The body of the paper consists mainly of a concise and critical review of literature concerning effects of tropical climate upon man and small mammals during the last 2 periods.
