Abstract
Racemic Na [beta]-hydroxybutyrate was injected into the blood perfusing both dog and goat heart-lung preps. The %age of the total O consumption ascribable to the [beta]-hydroxybutyrate metabolism was as high as 82% when the conc. of this product in the blood was app. 100 mg. %. Perfusion of isolated lungs showed that as much as 80% of the metabolism in this tissue may be at the expense of [beta]-hydroxybutyrate utilization. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
