The "Crowding Effect" in Tapeworm Infections

Abstract
In Hymenolepis diminuta infections in the rat the ratio of the area per unit weight of the individual worm increases in proportion with the log. of the number of worms in the infection, if the number of worms in each infection exceeds a critical number of about 8. This relation may hold with other cestode spp. Oxygen may be the limiting factor producing this effect.Keywords
