Abstract
The epidemiology and changing panorama of cerebral palsy and severe mental reterdation in Sweden are briefly surveyed. Based upon the Swedish experience, present and future preventive measures are discussed. The main differences in the preventive approach when tackling cerebral palsy in comparison with severe mental retardation are outlined and summarized in Table 3.Keywords
