Abstract
A clear metamagnetic transition in C15-type Laves phase compounds Lu(Co1-xAlx)2 has been observed by magnetisation measurements in pulsed high fields up to 400 kOe at 4.2 K. The magnetic moment power Co atom after the transition and the critical field for x=0.06 are 0.74 mu B and 220 kOe, respectively. Analysing the concentration dependence of this metamagnetism, the authors have first estimated the moment and the critical field for LuCo2(x=0), both of which are larger than the recent theoretical values. Keywords
