Two novel bisflavanols, mahuannin A and B, exhibiting hypotensive activity, were isolated from the crude drug mao-kon, the roots of Ephedra plants. The stereostructures of mahuannin A and B, advanced on the basis of chemical and physical evidence, were elucidated.
