Abstract
Rabbits were injected with zymosan plus adjuvants and heat stable antibodies were demonstrated by means of a quantitative agglutination technique. The rise and decline of the antibody titer was followed for over 100 days. A concomitant increase in bactericidal activity of the sera for Escherichia coli B was demonstrated. This bactericidal activity could be absorbed at 16.5[degree] C by E. coli B cells without affecting the hemolytic activity of the sera. Some aspects of the antigenicity of zymosan are discussed.
