Abstract
A supporting paper to a draft British Standard for a method of test for the determination of the wettability of fabrics is presented. A comparison is made between the test conditions of the standard American method for the determination of wettability, those of the original British method, and those of a new British method, which forms the subject of the draft standard. The variables affecting the results given by the new British method are investigated, and the relevance of the test to practical applications is examined. Inter-laboratory trials of the new method are reported, and it is concluded on the basis of these trials that the test should be put forward for comment as a draft British Standard.
