Abstract
Admn. of thyroid stimulating hormone to scorbutic guinea pigs produced exophthalmos to the same extent as in animals on a normal diet. The increase in water and hexosamine contents of the orbital tissues associated with the development of exophthalmos was equal in both groups. This was interpreted as indicating that the capacity to deposit the amorphous intercellular ground substance of the connective tissue is not diminished in the scorbutic state.
