Abstract
The belief that even a few minutes of anoxia result in irreversible brain damage has been put into serious question, so that the possibility of brain resuscitation has taken on a new significance. A major focus for both laboratory and clinical investigation is the development of techniques to protect neurons during the critical reperfusion period after restoration of cerebral blood flow. Keywords
