Abstract
Serum total lipids, phospholipids and cholesterol were measured in 25 patients with various clinical conditions. Eighteen patients received corticotropin, 5 received prednisone or cortisone and the others received both corticotropin and cortisone. Either corticotropin or cortisone administration resulted in an initial decrease of total lipids, cholesterol, phospholipids and alpha and beta lipoproteins. This was followed by an increase in all fractions. After withdrawal of treatment all lipid fractions increased to pretreatment levels. Keywords
