Acid treated urine from a patient suffering with sprue gave a CHC13 soluble pigment. From the crude pigment idirubin and indigotin were isolated in approx. 21 ratio, crystallized and characterized by spectral absorption. The quantity of pigment excreted was increased by a diet high in protein.
