Influence of Thyroidectomy on Experimental Ascites.

Abstract
In an effort to discover the relationship between thyroid and formation of ascites, thyroidectomy was done on a group of ascitic dogs. Balance studies before and after thyroidectomy showed a definite natruresis. This was accompanied by a loss of body weight and fluid. Sham operations on control animals exhibited neither a relief of their ascites nor a natruresis.
