Influence of Pyribenzamine and Antistine upon the Action of Hyaluronidase

Abstract
Hyaluroni-dase increased the spreading of allergic nonbacterial inflammation of the skin. Pyribenzamine and antistine counteracted the effect of hyaluronidase in skin allergies produced by paraphenylenediamine, but not in those produced by 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene. The local anesthetic property of pyribenzamine was not responsible for its antihyaluronidase action, since procaine was without effect. This indicates a reason for the observed curative effects of these antihistaminic substances in cases of allergic dermatitis or eczema even though histamine is not involved in these sensitivities.
