Abstract
The collective excitation spectrum of a two-dimensional electron gas interacting with the LO-phonon mode of the host lattice is calculated. The electronic polarization is treated within the random-phase approximation. Numerical results for the energy-loss function and the oscillator strength of the plasmon and phonon peaks are presented for different values of the electron density in a GaAs heterostructure. Keywords
