THE BLOOD SUGAR LEVEL AFTER ADMINISTRATION OF PILOCARPINE, ATROPINE AND ACETYL CHOLINE

Abstract

All observations were made on normally fed rats with 50 observations on each point of curves. Pilocarpine, 5 mgm./kilo, raised the blood sugar level, the max. effect being produced in 15 min. Atropine, 20 mgm./kilo, lowered the blood sugar level. The max. effect occurred in 90 min. Atropine prevented the rise after pilocarpine. Acetylcholine, Ice. per kilo of a 1:25 m soln., lowered the blood sugar level. The lowest point was reached in 20 min.
