Experimental Allergic Uveitis

Abstract
Experimental uveitis has been produced in the rabbit and guinea pig following immunization to homologous uveal or retinovitreous extracts in complete Freund's adjuvant. The inflammation is markedly more severe in the guinea pig than in the rabbit. Circulating uveal antibody occurs concomitantly with disease in many animals. Neither clinical nor histologic inflammation was produced following immunization to heterologous uveal or retinovitreous antigen although circulating uveal antibody was present.
