Abstract
The behavior of 5-methyl-3-sulfanilamido-isoxazole in the human organism is studied. The comparison of the sulfonamide concentrations in blood plasma, blood serum and whole blood showed a ratio of 1:1:0.6. Apparently no or only some sulfonamide penetrates the erythrocytes. Based on the behavior of the sulfonamide concentration in the blood following oral and intravenous single medication of varying doses, a biological half life of 9-14 hours and an invasion constant of 0.56 were calculated. 5-Methyl-3-sulfanilamido-isoxazole can, therefore, be given in low doses and at 12-hour intervals.
