Abstract
The ideal sound pressure measurement standard is discussed in relation to the design of a new microphone which meets the requirements of the ideal standard to a greater degree than other existing units. The structure approximates a rigid cylinder 5/8" in diam. by 15/16" long. It responds linearly to sound pressures up to several million dynes/cm2. Because of its small size, the device may be used as a pressure measuring element of an artificial ear.
