Abstract
The correlations within a layer at a distance R from the origin of large diffusion-limited aggregates were investigated by determining the tangential correlation function (θ) as a function of the angle θ. We find that for θ≪1(θ) decays algebraically with an exponent =0.41±0.04, which is different from the corresponding value obtained for the radial correlations, indicating that the aggregates are internally anisotropic. This fact has an effect on the results obtained for the fractal dimension in the form of the appearance of a correction-to-scaling term.
