Abstract
Lasing action on the v=0→v′=22 transition of the B2Σ+→X2Σ+ band of HgCl has been observed. Electron beam excitation of Ar/Xe/Hg/CCl4 or CCl3Br mixtures produced oscillation at 557.62 and 558.35 (±0.15) nm. The mercury‐halide family appears promising as an efficient source of line‐tunable stimulated emission in the blue‐green region of the spectrum. Keywords
