An Effect of the Y-Chromosome on the Sex-Ratio of Interracial Hybrids of Drosophila Pseudoöbscura

Abstract

If F1 hybrid [female][female] between races A and B are backcrossed to pure [male][male] of either race, the mortality of the resulting [male][male] varies widely. One of the major factors influencing this variability is the nature of the Y-chromosome carried by the [male][male] in question. Differences, in this property, are found in Y''s present in different wild strains within each race.
