Quadrupolar Splitting of the Al27 and Be9 Magnetic Resonances in Beryl Crystals

Abstract
The quadrupolar hyperfine structure of the Al27 and Be9 nuclear magnetic resonance peaks in beryl crystal at 300°K have been examined. From the observed spectra, the following values were obtained for the nuclear spins I, the effective nuclear magnetic moments μ, the nuclear quadrupole coupling constants eQ[open phi]zz, and the electric field asymmetry parameters η: Al27:  I=5/2,  |μ|=3.6385±0.0003 n.m.,|eQ[open phi]zz|=3.093±0.015 Mc/sec,  η=0.000±0.005.Be9:  I=3/2,  |μ|=1.774±0.0002 n.m.,|eQ[open phi]zz|=0.504±0.004 Mc/sec,  η=0.090±0.005.
