Abstract
A plasma is an ionized gas. A plasma can form, for instance, when a gas is heated to a very high temperature. In this process the binding energy of the electrons is eventually exceeded by the thermal energy, in which case the electrons are stripped away from the atoms and “float around” in “clouds”. Some well-known examples of plasmas are: the ionosphere, comet tails, and solar discharges. Keywords
