Experimental Test of Quantum Electrodynamics by Photoproduction of Wide-Angle Electron Pairs from Hydrogen

Abstract
The photoproduction of wide-angle electron pairs from hydrogen and carbon has been measured as a test of quantum electrodynamics (QED), using the 5-GeV electron synchrotron NINA. The results are consistent with the predictions of QED up to an invariant mass of the electron-positron pair of 500 MeV/c2.
