TORSION OF THE APPENDIX TESTIS

Abstract
The first case of torsion of the appendix testis was reported by Colt1in 1922. In the same year Walton2and Shattock3reported one case each. Mouchet4was the first, however, to establish this condition as a definite pathologic entity. The fact that twenty-nine cases have come to operation in France alone during the past eight years may be attributed to his interest in the subject. Dix5has recently written an admirable paper on the subject and added one case for a total of forty-two cases. The standard textbooks of surgery do not discuss torsion of the appendix testis nor does a fairly extensive search of North American literature reveal any report of the condition.
