Total serum complement levels were measured in a group of 31 patients with various malignancies before, during, and after radiotherapy. Levels were slightly higher than normal on average, but there was no significant change in mean level over the 9-week period of observation. This suggests that antigen-antibody reactions which fix complement are not involved in the radiation response.
