Abstract
Chemical erosion of graphite under hydrogen ion bombardment and the sputtering of Mo and W by oxygen ions was discussed in the session on “Synergisms on Surface Erosion”. The invited contributions are reviewed and the current understanding of the different effects are summarized. The relevance of these effects to the impurity production in fusion devices is discussed.Keywords
