Staphylococcal Infections in the Hospital and Community

Abstract
An in-vestigation of an outbreak of nursery-derived suppurative illnesses due to Staphylococcus aureus type 52/42B/80/81 is described. Sources of the strain were defined and control measures were designed to prevent spread of the organism from sources to infants. The outbreak was controlled, and it was thought that exclusion from the nursery of personnel who were carriers of the strain was the most important measure adopted.
